Nottinghamshire Alliance Training Hub (NATH) is the primary care training and workforce development organisation serving Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
Their mission is to be the “go-to” place for education and training across all primary and community care roles: from GPs, nurses, and support staff through to practice managers and allied-health professionals.
NATH delivers a broad portfolio: CPD courses, apprenticeships, advanced clinical practice training, radiology referral training, leadership and supervisory development, general-practice nurse fundamentals, eLearning modules, and more, all tailored to the needs of local primary care teams.
Beyond training, NATH supports workforce planning, placements and learning-environment approvals, offers resources for clinical supervision and evidence-based practice, and embeds values such as inclusivity, innovation, and ongoing evaluation; all aimed at strengthening local primary care for now and the future.
The Learning and Development Manager, Penny Guard, recognising the need for AI skills and adoption in her area, tasked herself in delivering a fantastic learning event for local teams to come, be inspired, and leave with practical skills and valid time spent on their continuous professional development.
To meet this expectation, Penny knew she needed to bring in the right speakers and workshop facilitators to make this a key event; and went straight to Quantum Rise to ask them to keynote on AI.
Quantum Rise partnered with Nottinghamshire Alliance Training Hub to deliver the famous ‘AI for the Average Joe’ talk and practical hands-on workshop, and it was a complete sell out! In fact, Penny had to make more spaces available to meet the need and ended up delivering two conferences, not just one!
Our Approach
Upon discussion with Penny and understanding the current messaging from the NHS regarding AI tools, mindset and capabilities, it was clear that the AI for the Average Joe was the right approach for the audience. Penny knew that the audience needed an accessible, engaging, and thought-provoking approach designed to demystify AI and inspire confident experimentation, particularly in tools such as MS Copilot, as the NHS’s large language model of choice.
The programme consisted of two parts:
Part 1: Keynote – Winning Hearts and Minds
We kicked off the journey with an energetic, interactive keynote that reframed AI not as a threat, but as an opportunity to evolve.
Participants explored:
This session sparked reflection and enthusiasm, breaking down barriers and creating psychological safety around AI adoption.
Part 2: Practical Workshop – Maximising Productivity, Creativity and Skills
Next, we rolled up our sleeves for a hands-on, practical workshop. Delegates used a robust prompt framework to explore how Generative AI could enhance creativity, productivity, and problem-solving in their day-to-day roles.
They learned how to:
The session turned curiosity into capability — helping teams identify immediate ways to save time and boost innovation.
The partnership between Nottinghamshire Alliance Training Hub and Quantum Rise Talent Group delivered a transformative impact across Nottinghamshire’s primary care community.
By combining an inspiring keynote with a practical, skills based workshop, the programme shifted perceptions of AI from intimidating to empowering. Delegates left not only more confident in using tools like Microsoft Copilot but also equipped with the mindset and frameworks to integrate AI ethically and effectively into daily workflows.
The sessions sparked meaningful conversations about innovation, efficiency, and patient experience helping local teams see AI as a catalyst for better care, not just a technological upgrade.
Feedback from participants and leaders alike highlighted a renewed curiosity, stronger collaboration, and a tangible sense of readiness to lead the NHS’s digital evolution from the ground up.
This work matters because the future of healthcare depends not just on new technologies, but on people’s ability to use them confidently and wisely. As AI becomes more embedded in the NHS, it’s vital that frontline teams understand how to apply it in ways that enhance, not replace, human care.
By investing in AI literacy and building psychological safety around experimentation, Nottinghamshire Alliance Training Hub is helping staff future-proof their skills, reduce administrative strain, and refocus their time where it counts most, with patients.
This isn’t just digital transformation; it’s cultural transformation, ensuring that the people behind the technology are equipped to deliver smarter, more compassionate and more efficient healthcare.
